Grievance - Developing Open Plots held by AMC for public Utilities setting standards of a true smart city

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to sale 16 open plots apart from 49 plots at River Front in Ahmedabad as published by News Media.

 Ahmedabad, a prime city of Gujarat, a model city of development, need to stand out as an unique city of India as People and local government decision makers from other States also visit Ahmedabad to learn about city development & management.

 Being head of the country, you are also inviting Heads of Foreign Countries to Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad is also a heritage city. Looking to all these, we request you to intervene to cancel the decision of selling  these 16 highly valuable plots for the purpose of following development based on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. 

 1.      Shri Narendra Modi Urban Forests: This will help to improve green cover of Ahmedabad since Ahmedabad is fast turning into a Concrete Jungle due to increase in FSI. Urban Forest dedicated to you will also send a message across the board about your love & commitment to save environment and ultimately saving Earth!

 2.      Shri Narendra Modi Public Schools: The condition of public schools run by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is so pitiable that no parents want to send their children to these schools except the very poor who are sending their children as beneficiaries of Mid-Day Meal scheme only which is a grim reality!

 We suggest that every five square kilometer area of Ahmedabad, minimum one public school with world-class teaching be developed under PPP model. The admissions may be given to children of low and middle income group parents only since high income group parents are affording expensive private schools.

 The children who get an opportunity to study at Narendra Modi Public Schools will prove to be the best citizens and assets for the Society, State and Nation and overall in public life!  

 3.      Shri Narendra Modi Sports Academies: Today, after recent expansion of borders of Ahmedabad, it has become larger than Mumbai! Municipal Corporation is running a few sports academies which offer sports activities to children, youth and senior citizens at an affordable cost. But, Ahmedabad deserves many more even as per town planning schemes. Looking to the population which is around 80 lakhs, Ahmedabad must have minimum 80 sports academies.

 4.      Shri Narendra Modi Centers for Cultural Activities: Ahmedabad is way behind in cultural activities! The best cities of Europe and advanced countries boast of having excellent Centers for Cultural Activities since they help cities to inherit cultural heritage of the society. They add to the values of a human being. Gujarati is known as a business minded citizen but it also indirectly speaks the truth that a Gujarati is lacking in cultural development. The gap is required to be filled up by giving boost to cultural activities through these cultural Centers run by eminent personalities/institutions under Public Private Partnership Model.

 5.      Use of Plots for Solid Waste Management Plants: Some plots can also be used for establishing Solid Waste Management Plants in decentralized manner. In spite of Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan initiated from 2nd October 2014, seven years before, AMC is still not able to initiate ‘Segregation of Waste at Source’ which is a prime condition for the success of SWM. Recycling plants, Electronic Waste handling plants etc. can surely be established on these land.  

Before 2024, Ahmedabad must have at least 80 Narendra Modi Public Schools for Excellence, 80 Urban Forests, 80 Sports Academies and 80 Cultural Centres, Ahmedabad will eventually turned out to be Narendrabad !!!!

 To raise finance for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the undersigned has many suggestions with regard to property tax formula, one of the important source of income. The undersigned has a privilege to claim that Municipal Commissioner Mr. Paneervel ( Year 2002), was convinced when a Lok Adalat conducted by me was organized in presence of him with several AMC officers present under the banner of Naroda Industries Association to prove that the new formula is quite transparent, easy to implement and easily acceptable to citizens.

 Seeing the success of Lok Adalat, Mr. Paneervel organized Lok Adalat in four different zones of Ahmedabad to address thousands of disputed cases of pending property tax. Thousands of pending cases were resolved in a matter of few days and the formula was implemented from that time across the State.

 Certain factors of Property Tax formula needs urgent changes which can justifiably increase the tax income of AMC. Similarly, considerable income can be generated by taking out Water and Solid Waste Management from the purview of Property Tax.

 Please find a list of plots which are likely to be sold by AMC. It is attached herewith which need your immediate intervention to stop the sale for visionary and historical development.

 Hoping for a change – Ahmedabad can become Narendrabad!!!!
